Agronomy from the Ground Up in Russia
Christian DeVries is not Russian and he didn’t grow up on a farm. Yet Christian’s company Agri 2.0 is one of the leading pioneers of precision ag technology in Russia.
His journey from city life in Holland to living and working in Russia began with a summer job helping on a family friend’s farm. He quickly decided that agriculture was the field for him. A stint in western Canada introduced him to broad-acre farming, and a university internship in Russia led to a job in precision ag for a Russian Deere dealer. Four years ago he started Agri 2.0 and began selling Raven ag electronics; in 2013 he imported a 40 ft container full of Veris MSP3’s. Today his company is the exclusive dealer in Russia for Raven, Veris, and other lines of ag technology.
This summer, Christian and his crew are conducting summer ‘roadshows’ to showcase his precision ag product lines. “This approach is a new way to introduce and promote,” says Christian. “But then most of what we do is new to Russian agronomy.”
